Summer League basketball is finally here. The Raleigh Chavis basketball league is one where many college level, some pros, and many wannabe stars come to macth their skills against each other within different teams. Always lots of fun but trying something different in shooting this year to not be affected by fans walking by.
I went to the first half of the Railhawks-Timbers game in Cary for The Carolinian. Storms were coming and had no desire to be a lightning rod and left. Images were OK but have to work out issues with the noise reduction. Still good to publish!
I volunteered as a photographer again for NC Special Olympics, this makes year 10(!), over the weekend of June 6th and 7th. Was lots of fun and shot gymnastics, softball and aquatics in their summer games. Now, have to get the remaining pictures back to NCSO as they use them in future publications. Shaw University Senior and baseball pitcher Edgar Huff was injured in a car accident days before graduation. Players in non-revenue sports , many times in Div II schools, do not receive the praise and attention as football and basketball players receive but work just as hard. For edgar, I plan to send him a few prints from his career, images I shot, at Shaw.
I joined a group in Raleigh called the Wedding Photographic Society where they had a few models to photograph in order to give a feel of on-location shooting. A chance to learn some new techniques and was much fun!
